How to restore “show desktop” icon on task bar, located at the bottom left of the screen?
“Show Desktop icon” appears on the task bar on the bottom left of your screen along with the other icons, in fact you can place any icon here for which you need to create the shortcut.
The task bar consists of two components, system tray which is placed in its right direction and some icons which are located adjacent the start menu. STEP 1: Click on the “Start” tab on the bottom left of out screen and then select “Run”.
STEP 2: In the dialog box titled “Run”, type in the following command,
“regsvr32 /n /i:U shell32.dll”.
The Show Desktop icon should be visible now in the task bar.
ALTERNATE SOLUTION
STEP 1: Go to “START” at the bottom left of your screen and then select “Accessories”. After that, from the list select “Notepad”.
STEP 2:: when the Notepad opens then type in the following in it.

IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
STEP 3:Save the Notepad file as : Show Desktop.scf (The name of the notepad might automatically append a .txt extension. Remove this extension if present). Now, drag the file to the Quick Launch Toolbar. A quick launch toolbar is present on the task bar. The application is started when one clicks on its icon in the quick launch area.
